On eBay, there are those disgraced Coda Electric Cars....The ones that were designed by Volvo and Pininfarina. The ones you curiously saw at the car shows but crept away to the next stand because of the insane price.
Now they are on eBay for seven and a half grand. Minus the battery. But a bit of history on this car, the chassis is based off a late-1990s Mitsubishi Lancer. And thats pretty much the same chassis as the revolution. So theoretically, this Coda can be a FWD with hollow boxes under the chassis designed for batteries but can be used for putting other sorts of stuff (ultracapacitors persay for super electric dragracing).
I talked to the guy who is selling these and revealed to me there are a world of possibilities with these. Some people in Mexico modified these with gas engines and transmissions. Someone is buying this for drag racing. Someone with a V8 in mind. Someone with the mind to make a drift car. Imagine the possibilities. A reworked Coda car for rallycross. The curb weight of this without batteries, transmission, and motor is roughly 2500 pounds. The Coda is weird mixture of Volvo, Mitsubishi, and some other brand I couldn't remember. It's a crossbreed.
The guy is selling "rollers" (no battery, no motior/transmission) for 2000. 2 GRAND! Wow...you just need a Mitsubshi engine and transmission. There are brakes and everything else. Maybe satnav. Eco saving seats. Also there are ones on sale with motors and transmission (7500) and ones complete (god knows).
This mighta been the Bricklin at the start. Now it's time for a rebirth for other possibilities.
And I'm going to take a look at these in the coming week. I live like 10 miles away from them. And it's just a simple bike ride away. I'll take pictures and keep Oppo informed.

I wonder if you could take one and install the Mitsu engine on the front wheels and move the electric motor to the rear... hm...

Buy a wrecked lancer evo with low miles, and a good engine/Tranny. Coda Evo? Profit?
